The DOG! -It is believed to have originated from the real rock & roll genetics that run through its veins in lore. The story opens with a guy, Chem-Dog, who was at some Grateful Dead show in ’91.

There, he encountered another type of weed which was known as the Dog Bud, though suitably enough since it made you behave like a dog, playful, lazy and careless.

While admiring the outcome of this unique strain, Chem-Dog decided to purchase more of it and had it brought to the East Coast… Little did he know, the delivery contained a priceless gift within, thirteen seeds. Nevertheless, this unexpected turn of events, he continued the breeding process that will change the world of marijuana forever.

One of those 13 seeds, a strain, called “Chemdawg ‘91” emerged. This landmark invention would go on to be the foundation of the legendary strain Chem Dawg, which we are now familiar with.

This classic strain is a well-balanced 60/40 Indica/Sativa split. The blend of its unusual fuel and chemical scents with citrus, pine, and sour fruit flavors is the definition of this super strain.

This baby has a very peppery taste given by caryophyllene and is finished by the twist of spicy and earthy notes. Simultaneously, the myrcene type, that is contained in mangos, lemongrass, adds a fruity aroma, balancing the whole taste. Last but not least, limonene as a pleasant citrus note, which fits into the taste that these buds have.

However, the terpenes are not the single source of scent and taste in Chem Dawg strain. This strain also contains a huge amount of volatile sulfur compounds, so they give the mix its typical skunky and gaseous smell.

These compounds are loved by most cannabis users because they add a yet another dimension to the entire high. Thus, even though terpenes are crucial, the Chemistry Dawg strain is characterized by the symbiosis of terpenes and sulfur compounds in terms of smell and taste.

Growing Chem Dawg Strain

Chem Dawg strain requires a lot of nutrients during the vegetative stage, and it does well in soils with high levels of organic matter. Further, liquid feeds like seaweed and worm tea when given will increase her growth tremendously and also keep her healthy.

Grown in a container of a certain size, she can grow up to between 4 and 5 feet. Chem Dawg strain has a short flowering time of 9-10 weeks and produces large yields

How to Germinate Your Chemdawg Seeds

PLEASE follow these 3 simple steps for best results: 

1) Empty your Chemdawg Autoflower seeds from the capsule you received in a cup of purified room-temperature water. Don’t worry if it sinks or floats.

2) Place the container in a dark warm place (like a kitchen cabinet) for 6-24 hours, but no longer! You do NOT want a long and very delicate tap root to be growing at this stage- you just want to soften the shell.

3) After 6-24 hours- gently scoop out the seed with a spoon and place/cover in 1/2” deep in good potting soil or preferably in a soaked Jiffy pellet/peat pellet (buy Jiffy pellets from Amazon or local hardware/garden store).

* Keep the soil/pellet moist (not soaked) and warm under your grow lights – NO Fertilizer!

* Your little marijuana seedlings should sprout within 4-12 days – BE PATIENT

* Take a bong hit and enjoy the ride!

Side Note: Some suggest germinating cannabis seeds using a wet paper towel on a plate/tweezer method. We find that this method is not the best for cannabis seeds because paper towels dry out quickly and getting the germinating seeds out of the paper towel can be clumsy damaging the seedling. Using tweezers can be dangerous as soaked seeds are much more fragile.
