About Gelato Strain
A POWERHOUSE (despite its inocent name) – Gelato comes from the combination of Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies and an Indica Sunset Sherbet. She is living evidence of the wonders of taste engineering. The flavor of this hybrid strain is the mixture of the taste that cannot fail to satisfy even the most gourmet taste. It is the type of smooth and mellow high that it offers, that makes it an ideal choice for people who want a strain to share when in a group.
San Francisco located Cookie Fam Genetics that are the minds behind Gelato seeds, has gifted the world with many numbered phenotypes. Of them, phenotype #33 is called Larry Bird. This nickname is inspired by the legendary basketball player Larry Bird and his famous shirt number. A player himself, Gelato #33 is a huge standout, flavor and high wise.
Gelato is an amazing hybrid that combines the best qualities of its taste-engineered parents. The good flavor and a mild high of Gelato produce it suitable for social consumption. Gelato #33, which is also known as the Larry Bird variety, adds another touch of sophistication to this already great strain. Hence, whether or not you are a cannabis connoisseur, or are just seeking a strain to amaze your pals, Gelato is definitely the answer.
Stoned moment:
Let’s learn something about Gelato! (the ice cream /not marijuana- not everything revolves around marijuana…)
A Sicilian fisherman called Francesco Propocio dei Coltelli created the first ever gelato machine in 1686 and helped to bring it to popularity. Soon after, he opened a cafĂ© in Paris named CafĂ© Procope, where Parisians flocked for fine gelato and coffee. The cafe is still open today, so pay it a visit when you’re in Paris!
Now, back to the good stuff- 🙂
Effects of Gelato Autoflower
Gelato Autoflower is a mix that rewards you with physical relaxation and mental clarity. Gelato most definitely gives a positive and energetic high with THC levels reaching up to 25%. At the palate you will get rather peppery, sweet mint, orange and mild herbal notes.
This strain gives an amazing high that encompasses the body and the mind, leaving you in a state of bliss and ease.
Imagine savoring a delicious combination of fruit and icy mint ice cream. The perfect combination provokes the buzz from an admirable day at the beach.
It is warm, soothing and nice sensation. Gelato is excellent for those who have anxiety, stress, depression, or lack of interest in life, as it offers a respite and a more optimistic outlook.
Smell and Taste of Gelato Autoflower
Gelato is a unique-looking and smelling strain. Though small, its buds are fat and dense, which is typical of Indica varieties. Gelato is characterized by bright orange pistils that contrast well with the forest green leaves, often accented by deep purple tones. Such purple shade is developed due to the cold climate at the vegetative stage when it provokes the production of anthocyanins.
Even though Gelato has sticky buds, its trichomes’ stalks are short creating a less frosty look as compared to other strains. Cured well, Gelato has a sharp citrus odor which comes from its fruity parent strain Sunset Sherbet. In addition, yeasty and doughy impressions are found in its odor. In general, Gelato is an attractive looking and smelling strain which should be popular among cannabis connoisseurs.
It feels like a very warm, close and nice feeling. Gelato suits people with anxiety, stress, depression, or disinterest as it offers relaxation and a smile to life.
Growing Gelato Strain
For a long time, these Gelato Autoflower seeds were not available for sale thus people willing to grow this strain had to get clippings of the plant to grow clones. But once the Gelato samples are acquired, it is necessary to state that Gelato is difficult to grow strain and not a good choice for novice growers. Gelato can be grown indoors as well as outdoors with the outdoor cultivation requiring a sustained warmth and humidity of about 75℉. However, indoor grow operations provide greater control and accommodate plants of medium height much more readily.
To fully unveil the strains’ vibrant purple capability, it is recommended that growers expose the plants to lower temperatures just before the flowering period. This effect will promote the synthesis of the anthocyanin pigment types mentioned above, improving the visual attraction of Gelato plants. In indoor setting Gelato flowers within eight to nine weeks while when grown outdoor it’s bloomed by mid-October. Though there remains little information about the growing process of this strain, the fact is that this Gelato is the offspring of two parent strains, Thin Mint and Sunset Sherbert, which are known for having above average yields.
Finally, Gelato is characterized with a strong smell and flavor strength when growing. Odor should be controlled by the indoor grower, through methods like the use of the carbon air filters or exhaust fans. This will reduce the problems associated with the pungency of the strain and guarantee a more pleasant growing process.
How to Germinate Your Gelato Autoflower Seeds
PLEASE follow these 3 simple steps for best results:Â
1) Empty your Gelato Autoflower seed from the capsule you received in a cup of purified room-temperature water. Don’t worry if it sinks or floats.
2) Place container in a dark warm place (like a kitchen cabinet) for 24-48 hours, but no longer! You do NOT want a long and very delicate tap root to be growing at this stage-
3) After the 24-48 hours- gently scoop out the seed with a spoon and place/cover in 1/2” deep in good potting soil or preferably in a soaked Jiffy pellet/peat pellet (buy Jiffy pellets from Amazon or local hardware/garden store).
*Â Keep the soil/pellet moist (not soaked) and warm under your grow lights
* Gelato seeds should sprout within 3-8 daysÂ
*After the little seedling has grown to around 3″ tall- transfer him to his new home and enjoy the ride!*
Side Note: Some suggest germinating cannabis seeds using a wet paper towel on a plate/tweezer method. We find that this method is not the best for cannabis seeds because paper towels dry out quickly and getting the germinating seeds out of the paper towel can be clumsy damaging the seedling. Using tweezers can be dangerous as soaked seeds are much more fragile. We like to play it safe and germinate cannabis seeds using purified water and jiffy pellets which are specifically designed to easily germinate seeds.
